Active Lightning Energy is developing the StarPower™ technology — a novel approach to charge generation and electrostatic storage that uses magnetically confined electron rings to produce extreme high-voltage potential. Our goal is to validate, prototype, and commercialize a platform that can serve grid buffering, renewable energy integration, and pulsed-power applications.
StarPower is based on a core physical insight: a rotating ring of electrons in a uniform magnetic field induces powerful charge separation in a nearby conductor — creating extreme voltage without conventional high-voltage components.
Electrons do not have to travel in a conductive wire. Ultra-high vacuum and magnetic confinement can enable control of electrons to deliver needed electrical components for large scale power systems.
StarPower is being developed as a common technology platform that can be configured for multiple high-voltage power applications. The first application is a high-voltage DC-DC step-up transformer, with additional applications expected to follow as the technology is developed and validated.
